DSIP — delta sleep-inducing peptide — is a nonapeptide, nine amino acids in the sequence Trp-Ala-Gly-Gly-Asp-Ala-Ser-Gly-Glu, first identified in the 1970s in work on cerebral dialysate. It is small, highly polar, and carries a net negative charge at physiological pH from its two acidic residues.
In preclinical literature it is studied in relation to delta-wave EEG activity in animal models, and more broadly as a neuromodulatory peptide in cognitive and neurological research contexts.
